Greentech - or just tech?

At Woop Woop for Nature we're committed to scaling large scale, practical action for nature, so over the past year we've been putting on our ecological restoration hats and diving deep into the world of AgTech, ClimateTech and Naturetech.

What did we learn?

  • Green tech is exploding with innovation, and investors are loving it too.

  • From high-tech machinery to bold promises and attention-grabbing stunts, there’s no shortage of exciting developments across the restoration life cycle.

  • But- does greentech restore ecosystems? We're not convinced, yet. There's lots of claims around, but they are often very short on the evidence.

How can we make sure greentech has an ecological impact?

  • Ecosystem restoration is a nature-based problem and a specialised field of science, so invest in teams that deeply understand nature and develop tech solutions accordingly.

  • Humans have been planting for thousands of years but ecosystem restoration is an emerging science. Build on the evidence base and learn quickly with rapid iterations.

  • Learn from our friends the farmers. They know how to grow stuff, plus there's an enormous amount of Agtech just waiting to be used in ecosystem restoration.

  • Don't overegg the tech- sometimes plants just need the right niche, some food and water, and a bit of love.

There's lots to learn- but we think there are exciting times ahead for nature and tech as we rapidly scale ecosystem restoration 🚀🌍
